(Voodoo magic) Add Some Class to Your Home with Pirate Dcor

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum, and Aye, me matey are probably the two most popular pirate sayings of all time. The image of a pirate, to most people, is a peg leg individual with a patch over one eye, a parrot perched on his shoulder and a sword in his belt. Pirates swigged rum and threatened anyone who would listen; their fate may be to walk the plank. Pirates sailed on ships flying the traditional pirate flag depicting a skull and crossed swords or bones. They boarded ships and stole gold, precious gems and rum. Pirates were a pesky bunch that romanticized crime on the open seas.
If you want to consider something different for your home, or just a room in your home, you may want to consider pirate decor. That decor is appropriate for a kids room as well as an entertainment room or even your outside patio or deck. You may choose to be all pirates all the time and redecorate your entire home in such decor. Pirate decor is sassy and fun but you may find a little of such a decor will go a long way.
The most obvious pirate decoration is a pirate flag. You should consider hanging a flag on the wall or from the ceiling rather than painting a flag on the wall or floor. If you decide you do not like the pirate motif, it is easier to remove a flag from the wall than the floor. The second most obvious pirate decoration is a wooden treasure chest, and if it has a chain and lock on it, that is a bonus.
An interesting wall decoration is a pirates ladder. I have seen them in wood and metal. If your kids have a tree house, a pirate ladder might be a good option to get to and from the hut. A pirate ladder will fit almost anywhere but remember: think safety when placing it. I doubt you want it attached to a bedroom window, unless it is a hint for your daughter to elope.
Another interesting wall decoration is a ships wheel. Finished in a shiny lacquer will add a little pizzazz to your pirate room. If you are not sure if a ships wheel will work as a decoration, put it up for a while and give it a whirl and see if you can make it spin.
How about a replica of a pirate ship in the front entry of your home to greet your guests? Perhaps a replica of a pirate ship in the backyard for the kids. You will be the envy of the neighborhood and the most popular play area around. Imagine the fun the kids will have yo ho ho-ing all over the place. Just be sure they do not make anyone walk the plank. You could be in some serious trouble if that happens.
A fun idea for a kids room or the entertainment room is a treasure map on the wall. They are available online or you can do it yourself. Step by step directions are available online.
Do not forget the kitchen with your pirate dcor. Image the surprise on your guests face when you carve the thanksgiving bird with an honest to goodness pirate sword. It might be the most important piece of cutlery you own.
